FUNDING, ADMISSIONS POLICY AND STATISTICS

"FUNDING"
The Horry County Shelter Home relies heavily upon continued
support form the entire community .Through the years, this
community , (individuals, businesses, churches, civic organizations),
has provided overwhelming support, not only spiritually, but also
with donations of food, clothing, personal items, and furniture. In
addition, the community has provided financial support, from private
donations to fundraising events.

The Horry County Shelter Home, Inc. receives the Day-to Day
Operational Funding from the following sources:
-Over 50% * from Generous Individuals, Businesses, Civic
Organizations, Churches, Clubs, and Fundraisers;
-17% * from the Horry County United Way;
-15% * from the Department of Social Services through a daily Board
Payment, which ranges between 11.07 and 14.17 per child, per day;
-12% * from the Horry County Council Supplemental Agency Grant

"ADMISSIONS POLICY"
Residential Staff, in collaboration with the Executive Director, will
make intake decisions.

All referrals made by the Horry County Department of Social
Services shall be evaluated according to the following set of
guidelines:

A. All referrals which match the following set of circumstances will
be accepted according to the specified length of stay:
-Space permitting;
-1st Time Placed in Foster Care 90 Day Max
-Foster Home Abuse 90 Day Max
-Foster Home Investigation 30 Day Max
-Foster Home Family Emergency 30 Day Max ( death,
disaster, severe illness)
-Foster Home Disruption 10 Days Max per yr.
-Runaways 10 Days Max per yr.
-M T S youth 72 Hour Max per yr.
-Respite 72 Hour Max per yr .

B. All referrals which match the following set of circumstances will
not be accepted:
-Referrals who are 18 years or older;
-Children who have been arrested;
-Children who have disrupted within the last sixty ( 60) days of the
present referral;
-Children who have been discharged as a result of vandalism or assault;
-Children known to possess communicable and/or contagious diseases;
-Children who pose a threat of harm ;
-Children returning from R & E;
-Children who are awaiting Trial.

C. All referrals which do not match any of the previously listed set
of circumstances will be evaluated by the Executive Director on a
case-by-case basis.





"STATISTICS"

The statistical annual averages have usually remained the same for
several years-

-youth placed per year 230+
-youth residing each day 16
-age of youth 10
-racial percentages: 30% black 65% white 5% bi-racial/other
-length of stay new youth 20 days
-length of stay all youth 31 days
